Twelve-year-old Tomy and his best friend Chris spend the summer of 1999 on an alpine pasture. They help Tomy's uncle with dairy farming, build a dam and learn how to treat an udder infection.
While the boys discover new worlds, Tomy's mother decides to continue hiding from her son the real reason why his father is in hospital.
When Chris learns from the milk truck driver that Tomy's father has the ‘gay disease’, he withdraws. His friend's rejection is a hard blow for Tomy. At the same time, he increasingly doubts the sincerity of his family.
On the day of the solar eclipse, the truth comes to light – and almost everything is lost between the boys.
