Our festival

Compared with other international film festivals, Kitzbühel stands out not only for its relaxed atmosphere against an Alpine backdrop and a setting that invites open exchange, but also for its cross-border DACH perspective and for looking at film and television production in a wider media-industry context. A market is only strong when all of its levels work together: innovation in storytelling and design and a focus on the audience are decisive factors that the festival seeks to bring together.

Guests from different industries, professions and levels are invited to discuss together and to create new paths and projects from the connections they find.

The film selection

At the heart of the festival is the film selection for both the competition and the sidebar sections. Above all, the festival gives emerging national and international filmmakers a place to network, establish themselves and find inspiration.

The competition

The competition presents feature films and documentaries with an innovative creative signature as well as an audience-oriented perspective. It offers cinema, streaming and TV productions alike a forum for presentation and networking. Feature films in competition must be among the first three productions of their director.

Networking & Panels

Only a festival that keeps evolving and building networks can strengthen its position in the DACH region. Forward-looking perspectives and lasting networking therefore come first, reflected in a varied programme of events (FFKB Connect, Panels, Think Tank, Drehbuchklausur).
