When White Blankets

When White Blankets moves at the intersection of intimate family history and the deep time of a landscape in crisis, capturing the disappearance of glaciers in the European Alps. Through a preserved Super 8 archive from the early 1970s, the audience dives directly into the mind of a grandfather and alpinist, whose camera captured historic expeditions across Mont Blanc and Gran Paradiso as untouched winter landscapes.
In exploring this archive, the film documents a profound shift, contrasting the deep sense of community found in the traditional alpine club culture of the past with today's individualistic world and mass tourism. By weaving this archival footage with immersive sound design, the film creates a dialogue between generations, making the passing of time, memory, and ice felt entirely without words.
