A Mother's Love

Original title: Mutterliebe

43-year-old Beate lives with her husband Uwe and their 8-year-old son Benjamin in a small
town. They are an ordinary family, but they are grappling with the aftermath of a tragic bus
accident in which their eldest daughter, Jana (12), was killed. The loss of her daughter is
particularly devastating for Beate.
When Benjamin is summoned to the police station for questioning, Beate learns that her own
son bears some responsibility for the bus accident.
Beate is unable to process this revelation. A battle of emotions erupts within her. She can
barely look her son in the eye without seeing him as the one responsible for her daughter's
death. How is she supposed to deal with the question of her son's guilt?
