and now I understand what I knew when I was a child

"and now I understand what I knew when I was a child” is a black&white documentary that portraits three extraordinary, highly experienced artists:
fine artist June Leaf, pianist Norman Shetler (both from the US) & Polish avant-garde-filmmaker Jozéf Robakowski. The audience is invited to accompany them into their creative, private environments, witness their artistic process and and explore their reflections on the meaning of art and its profound impact on their lives.

This film serves also as an invitation to engage more deeply with the question of art in general and the stories behind these individuals, how they became artists in the first place.

Sadly, June Leaf and Norman Shetler passed away shortly after filming, which underscores the urgency and importance of preserving these stories and the enduring impact of art.
